Every Sir Jacobs porcelain vessel is made by hand in our Johannesburg studio. Slip cast, fettled, fired to 1220°C. No two pieces are identical; subtle variation in surface and tone is the evidence of genuine craft, not a flaw to be corrected. What you receive has been made, not manufactured.

Olfactory notes

The composition.

Costa Verde opens with grapefruit carried on a sea breeze accord, bright fruit over salt air. Lily of the valley and tomato leaf form a green, garden-fresh heart. Amber woods, sandalwood and musk settle beneath, warm and clean, the coast at the end of the day.

I  ·  First spray

The opening

Grapefruit cuts first, bright and bitter-sweet, carried on the salt of a sea breeze accord. The opening is all coast: fresh air, cold water, sun on the way.

II  ·  The heart

The heart of the scent

Lily of the valley and tomato leaf take over, green and garden-crisp. The freshness turns leafy rather than sweet, like shade after open water.

III  ·  The dry-down

The settle

Amber woods, sandalwood and musk ground the green in warm, clean wood. What remains is composed and quietly outdoors: the coast, carried indoors on the skin.

“Vilankulos is one of those places I associate with complete escape. Warm water, islands, greenery, long lunches and nowhere you particularly need to be. I wanted Costa Verde to capture that feeling, but with this very green tomato leaf running through it to make it feel alive.”

Each porcelain vessel is designed and handmade locally by our in-house ceramicists.
