Wild Rosemary Violet Leaf Labdanum

Olfactory notes

The composition.

Sneeuberg opens with wild rosemary and green leaves on a mountain air accord, cold, aromatic and clear. Violet leaf and soft jasmine form a green heart beneath. Vetiver, an ambergris accord and labdanum settle last: earth, salt and resin, the mountain at its base.

How it wears

Wild rosemary, violet leaf and labdanum, the notes of Sneeuberg

I  ·  First spray

The opening

Wild rosemary cuts through first, aromatic and cool, with green leaves and a mountain air accord carrying it. The opening is thin, clear air: bracing rather than bright.

II  ·  The heart

The heart of the scent

Violet leaf brings a cool green depth as soft jasmine warms it from beneath. The herbs recede; what's left is quiet, green and closer to the skin.

III  ·  The dry-down

The settle

Vetiver grounds the composition in dry earth as the ambergris accord adds a mineral salt and labdanum a resinous warmth. What remains is the mountain itself: stone, air and stillness.

The scent, in the order it arrives.

THE PERFUMER

NEIL JACOBS

“What stayed with me most was being on top of the Sneeuberg early in the morning. The air was cold, thin and sharp, but the landscape was unexpectedly green and peaceful. You could smell the aromatic vegetation around you, with heavier traces of bark and resin coming through every now and then. That contrast became a big part of the fragrance.”

THE CERAMIST

STEPHAN JACOBS

“Every vessel begins soft enough to remember a touch. The relief is pressed by hand before the clay fully sets — it is the only moment in the process where the material still yields. After 1220°C, it remembers nothing else.”

I  ·  THE CASTING

Cast by hand

Each perfume bottle begins as liquid porcelain slip, cast by hand into a plaster mould in our Johannesburg studio.

II  ·  THE FETTLING

Refined while it yields

Once released, every piece is left to dry for several days before being meticulously fettled: edges softened, lines refined, and surfaces smoothed with tools and wet sponging. After this shaping stage, the vessels dry again for a further two to three days before entering the kiln.

III  ·  THE FIRING

Two paths through the kiln

Some bottles are left unglazed and receive a single high-temperature firing, resulting in a soft, tactile matte finish that highlights the natural character of porcelain. Others undergo a two-step process: an initial bisque firing followed by glazing and a final high-temperature firing, creating a glossy, smooth surface with a polished, glasslike feel.

IV  ·  THE FINISHING

Sanded, filled, released

Once fired to 1220°C, each vessel is wet-sanded with a fine abrasive to achieve perfect smoothness. Only the most flawless bottles pass our quality control before reaching the filling line, where they are filled with perfume, fitted with a high quality perfume pump and branded zinc-alloy cap, and finally boxed for release.

More than a container, the vessel is an object of craftsmanship which has been shaped slowly, finished by hand, and made to be kept.
